00:00:00 — Question Tuesday opens: Ben in Paper Towns is John himself; video responders are secret siblings; NaNoWriMo vs the Paper Towns screenplay; "What is love?"

  • ★★ Asked whether Ben in Paper Towns is based on someone from his high school, John says the character is based on himself. — 00:00:00 · Paper Towns
  • ★★ John says it is still possible to be a secret sibling: everyone who makes video responses is one. — 00:00:00 · secret sibling
  • ★★ John says he is 10,000 words behind on NaNoWriMo because of the Paper Towns screenplay revision, and behind on the screenplay because of NaNoWriMo. (playful) — 00:00:00 · Paper Towns

00:00:35 — Movember beard for prostate cancer research; 'who the F is Hank' (an optical disc); Hank's album on iTunes, physical CD with poster; unicorns, glitter and fruitcake

  • ★★ John says he is growing his beard for Movember, in which people grow facial hair to raise money for prostate cancer research; someone offered a donation if he kept it all month. — 00:00:35
  • ★★ John says Hank's album is already on iTunes but recommends buying the physical CD because it comes with a poster. — 00:01:05 · Hank Green
  • ★ John jokes he dislikes unicorns for refusing to disarm, loves glitter, and calls fruitcake the unicorn of the cake genre. (joke) — 00:01:05

00:01:34 — For 48 hours John pays $2 of Hank's CD for buyers via DFTBA.com/John (in $2 bills); a '$2 hug' for earlier buyers; John's books in Serbian

  • ★★★ For 48 hours after upload (until 19 November 2009), John will pay $2 toward Hank's CD for buyers using the DFTBA.com/John link, so it costs $13; he plans to pay Hank in $2 bills. (hedged) — 00:01:34 · DFTBA Records, Hank Green
  • ★ John says his books are published in Serbian and jokes that his Serbian name reads like 'Jean Green' or 'Dijon Grin'. (playful) — 00:02:03

00:02:33 — Coming-out advice; Nerdfighteria found Gus Is a Bug in about 20 minutes, keep sending illustrations, now they get to punish John

  • ★★ John asks Nerdfighters to keep sending Gus illustrations. — 00:02:33 · Nerdfighteria
  • ★★★ John congratulates Nerdfighters: they now get to punish him, and an official thread for discussing punishments is linked. (playful) — 00:02:33 · Punishment, Nerdfighteria

00:03:01 — Punishment discussion thread and Hank's tour videos in the doobly-doo; sign-off

Humor (significant)

  • John is behind on NaNoWriMo because of the screenplay; asked about the screenplay, he gives the mirror answer. — 00:00:00

“going okay, but I'm a little bit behind because I've had to work on NaNoWriMo.”

  • Asked 'who the F is Hank', John answers with a dictionary-style definition of a CD. — 00:00:35

“Hank is an optical disc originally created to store sound recordings.”

  • Asked why he dislikes unicorns, John treats the horn as a weapon. — 00:01:05

“I don't like unicorns because they refuse to disarm and become horses.”

  • For viewers who already bought the CD and miss the $2, John offers a consolation. — 00:02:03

    “here's a $2 hug. It's just for you.”
