What is said

The parts of the video and what is said in each (★ — how much it matters to the video).

00:00:00 — Montage of VidCon 2011 footage: attendees' and creators' voices on how epic it was, hugs, love in the room, 2,500 young makers; a song performed at VidCon

  • ★ a guest: A VidCon 2011 attendee in the montage calls it the most epic thing they've been at; others describe hugs, love in the room and people rushing the stage. — 00:00:00 · VidCon
  • ★★ a guest: A montage voice describes VidCon as 2,500 people, growing, mostly young, excited makers, and the best community to be around. — 00:00:21 · VidCon

00:01:04 — VidCon 2012 announced: site and registration open, early bird for the first 1,000; FAQ from Twitter: Anaheim Convention Center, June 28-30, community/industry/new Expo pass, everyone welcome, livestream, VidCon UK/East Coast

  • ★★★ Hank announces that VidCon 2012 is happening and that the site and registration are being released now-ish. — 00:01:04 · VidCon
  • ★★★ Hank urges viewers to register now, because early-bird registration is only available to the first 1,000 people. — 00:01:31 · VidCon
  • ★★ Hank explains that opening registration early is about getting money into the account so VidCon can start paying for things. — 00:01:31 · VidCon
  • ★★★ Answering FAQs gathered on Twitter, Hank says VidCon is in Anaheim, across the street from Disneyland at the Anaheim Convention Center, with lots of cheap hotels. — 00:01:31 · VidCon, Twitter
  • ★★★ The community days are Friday June 29 and Saturday June 30; the industry day is Thursday June 28. — 00:01:31 · VidCon
  • ★★★ There are three registration passes: the community pass, as always, for everything on the 29th and 30th; the industry pass adds the 28th, an industry-of-online-video day. — 00:01:55 · VidCon
  • ★★★ The new Expo Pass is extra cheap but gives access only to the expo hall. — 00:02:18 · VidCon
  • ★★ The Expo Pass exists because community passes always sell out and selling too many would make it feel less community-ish, and because the expo hall will hold all the video-gaming content. — 00:02:18 · VidCon
  • ★★ Whatever you are - young, old, amateur, professional, tall, short - everyone is allowed to come to VidCon and everyone will enjoy it. — 00:03:04 · VidCon
  • ★★ Some of VidCon will be livestreamed - they are not sure about all of it - and the whole thing will be videotaped and put up afterwards. (hedged) — 00:03:04 · VidCon
  • ★★ Asked about VidCons elsewhere, Hank says they dream about a VidCon UK and a VidCon East Coast but haven't figured out how to do it yet. — 00:03:04 · VidCon

00:03:24 — Ball pits and Nerf guns return; Hank will turn the video into a FAQ page; hint of gatherings on the east and west coasts; sign-off to John's signing hand

  • ★★ The ball pits and Nerf guns are coming back to VidCon. — 00:03:24 · VidCon
  • ★★ For those who can't come, Hank hopes to see them at a gathering soon: opportunities on America's east or west coast should arise fairly soon (no spoilers). (hedged) — 00:03:24
  • ★ Hank wishes John luck as he keeps signing 'like a madman' and refers to John's inflamed right hand. (playful) — 00:03:49 · John Green
