In June 2007, after watering his brown grass at his new Indianapolis house, John asked Hank what to do about it; Hank told him to tear it out and grow vegetables. By December John was letting native Indiana grasses take over, and in May 2008 he was slowly ripping out the lawn for vegetable beds.
