Hank records a video tutorial teaching John how to put their videos into a podcast (FTP upload with Fetch, web hosting, Podcast Blaster, an RSS feed) so people who can't get YouTube at work can watch, then ends with 'juicy bits': a giant baby picture of himself.

What is said

The parts of the video and what is said in each (★ — how much it matters to the video).

00:00:00 — A Brotherhood shirt from a book blogger; honorary members of the Brotherhood

  • ★ Hank shows off a shirt from a book blogger who sells shirts; he thinks it may be exclusive to actual members of the Brotherhood (Hank and John), with honorary members welcome. (playful, hedged) — 00:00:10 · Brotherhood 2.0

00:00:45 — Why a video tutorial: teaching John to make a podcast without text

  • ★★ Hank says he has to teach John to make a podcast by video, since he can't do it with John's videos and can't send a text tutorial. — 00:00:45 · No textual communication

00:01:15 — Podcast how-to: Fetch, web hosting, FTP upload, Podcast Blaster, RSS feed

  • ★★ Hank's first step is an FTP program: Fetch on a Mac or Smart FTP otherwise, which he downloads from Download.com because it is easy to remember. — 00:01:15
  • ★★ Hank notes for other viewers that you can't have a podcast without web hosting. — 00:01:15
  • ★★ Hank says Brotherhood2.com is hosted at Bluehost and that he also hosts at AN Hosting and Midphase, all of which he recommends. — 00:01:15 · Brotherhood 2.0
  • ★★ Hank walks John through logging into their FTP server (the password given only as family clues) and dragging all their videos into the podcast directory, which will take hours. — 00:02:02
  • ★★ John is then to create a new podcast in Podcast Blaster's syndication tool with each file's URL and publish it to their podcast RSS feed. — 00:02:31
  • ★★★ Once the RSS feed is published they will have a podcast, so people who can't get YouTube at work will be able to watch their videos. — 00:03:01 · YouTube

00:03:30 — Juicy bits: giant baby picture, scans on MySpace; sign-off

  • ★ As promised 'juicy bits', Hank shows a giant baby picture of himself; he and Katherine scanned pictures this weekend, now findable on MySpace. (playful) — 00:03:30 · Katherine Green
